Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to bring to public notice the grave problems caused by the ongoing construction of a flyover in our colony.
The new flyover is being built to provide a faster connection from the city to the airport. However, instead of easing transport, it has become a source of endless trouble for the residents. A major part of the main road used by most commuters has been blocked for the construction work, making daily travel extremely difficult.
As per an RTI filed by one of the residents, the construction is already delayed by over six months, and only 55 per cent of the work has been completed. Due to this delay, people are stuck in long traffic jams, wasting hours each day. Not only is this frustrating, but it has also led to an increase in fuel consumption and expenses.
Moreover, the constant exposure to dust and pollution from construction material and idling vehicles has led to several health issues. Cases of bronchitis, asthma, and other respiratory ailments are rising rapidly in our area.
I sincerely urge the concerned authorities to take immediate steps to speed up the work and finish the flyover at the earliest. The citizens of this area have already endured a great deal, and further delay will only worsen the situation.

I quickly shut the door and bolted it from inside.
My heart was beating fast. I returned to my room, trying to convince myself it must have been a dream. Just as I sat on my bed, I noticed something unusual in the corner of the room. A figure was sitting silently, barely visible in the dim moonlight. My legs froze. I could neither move nor speak.
Gathering courage, I stepped forward to see who it was—but just as I neared the figure, it vanished. The corner was empty! I jumped back and quickly turned on the light. I searched every part of the room—under the bed, behind the curtain—but there was no one. My body was trembling with fear, and cold sweat ran down my face.
I screamed loudly, and within moments my parents and sister rushed into my room. I explained what had happened. They calmed me down, checked the room again, and stayed with me for a while. Eventually, I felt safe again and managed to sleep.
The next morning, I realised that my mind had played tricks on me. My recent loneliness, stress from studies, and fear of staying alone had all built up inside me. That night, it all came out in the form of a hallucination. I learnt an important lesson—that fear and an overworked mind can lead us to imagine things that don’t exist.
(II) Narrate an account of a robbery attempt in your neighbourhood and the varied reactions and responses to it.
Answer:- It was around mid-day on a quiet Sunday when a robbery attempt shocked our otherwise peaceful neighbourhood. Two young men, wearing masks and armed with knives, tried to rob a well-known jewellery shop just a few blocks from my house. The incident occurred at a time when the streets were less crowded, and most people were indoors due to the afternoon heat.
As the robbers entered the shop, they threatened the owner and his assistant with their weapons and demanded the keys to the main vault. But little did they know that the owner, Mr. Arvind Mehta, was a trained martial artist. Keeping his cool, he distracted them by pretending to open the vault. Then, using his martial arts skills, he swiftly overpowered one of them while his assistant hit the alarm button.
Startled, the second robber tried to escape but was caught by some passers-by who had gathered outside hearing the commotion. Within minutes, the police arrived and took the culprits into custody. News of the attempted robbery spread like wildfire. Within no time, the entire neighbourhood was buzzing with people talking about the brave act.
Reactions were varied. Some people praised Mr. Mehta for his courage and presence of mind, calling him a hero. Others expressed shock and concern about the rising crime in our locality. Elderly residents felt unsafe and demanded more patrolling by the police, while a few shopkeepers suggested installing CCTV cameras and hiring private security guards.
A small meeting was held in the evening where local residents and police officials discussed ways to improve safety in the area. Although the robbery attempt had failed, it left everyone shaken. However, it also brought the community together and reminded us of the importance of vigilance and unity in the face of crime.
